NZ's Fifty Favourite Women Writers

The Women's Bookshop of Auckland recently ran a survey asking readers to list their ten favourite women authors of the pasty fifty years. The results of the poll were published recently in the New Zealand Listener, and have also been posted on the Women's Bookshop web site.

This opinion poll was last run in 2005. In that year, Janet Frame took 4th place in the top 50 after Margaret Attwood, Barbara Kingsolver and Annie Proulx. In 2010, Margaret Attwood again tops the poll, and Barbara Kingsolver remains at number two. Janet Frame moves up to take third place.

The poll results were announced at a celebration of the 21st birthday of the bookshop. See a report at the Booksellers NZ web site.
